NavLink as speaker at eGovernment Summit 2004

NavLink has been invited as a speaker at the first "Middle East eGovernment Summit", that was hosted by ITP and Dubai E-Government on the 26th and 27th of April 2004 in Dubai, UAE (http://egovsummit.dubai.ae). NavLink’s Director, eConsulting, Dr. Heinz Schrey, presented "The Seven Keys to Success of eGovernment Systems". Dr. Schrey acknowledged that it is attractive to “bridge” the existing IT islands, namely the Government’s IT systems and applications on one hand, and the citizens’ and corporations' IT systems on the other hand, through “eGovernment services” using the Internet, thus making the citizen-Government interaction more comfortable and independent from place and opening hours. He highlighted both technical and organisational issues and solutions that are keys to the success of such eGov systems.

He also pointed out that particular attention should be given to the type of government services that can successfully be delivered over the Web, and to the encouragement of citizens' participation in public matters through eGov systems. The e-Government Summit brought together senior decision-makers from regional Governments and Organizations across the Middle East and Europe. Ever mindful of the speed and agility required by the public sector to adapt to a changing world, the 2004 Summit rose to the challenge and offered fresh ideas to implement e-Government strategies in the Middle East working environment. The emphasis at the 2004 Summit was on a complete cultural re-organization of the Government mindset, moving e-Government from being technology-led to citizen-led, achieving interoperability to improve communication and efficiency, knowledge management, CRM and learning from the achievements and mistakes of the private sector.
